This small personal devotional statuette (commonly referred to as an amulet or Phra Kru) depicts the Buddha seated in deep meditation.

His hands are joined in his lap, placed flat atop one another with palms facing upward, forming the dhyāna mudrā (the gesture of meditation). The overall silhouette flares outward toward the base in a pyramidal shape, typical of small castings from this era.

Despite significant surface erosion caused by burial and ritual handling, the face retains the elongated oval characteristic of the Ayutthaya canons. The eyes are closed, almost blending into the form, emphasizing a state of spiritual detachment. The ears feature long, stretched lobes that flare slightly outward into a stylized point, a recurring graphic motif in Siamese statuary of this period. One of the most distinctive details is the absence of a prominent ushnisha, leaving the head with a smooth, rounded, almost monastic shape.

The monastic robe (sanghati) is rendered in an exceptionally restrained and fluid manner, clinging tightly to the torso without heavy relief and revealing the bare right shoulder.

Condition: The object exhibits an authentic excavation patina, alternating between dark oxidized areas, earthy tones, and verdigris highlights. Precious remnants of original gilding survive in the recesses, particularly on the face, torso, and base, attesting to the sacred status accorded to the icon.

The reverse of the statuette features an integrated horizontal suspension ring cast into the metal. This loop allowed the piece to be worn on the body or suspended within a reliquary or portable altar. The underside reveals solid bronze, raw from the mold, displaying the granular texture characteristic of artisanal lost-wax castings used in the provinces of the Ayutthaya Kingdom during the 17th century.
