A fine globular kendi with a lobed body, flared neck, and ribbed lateral spout, characteristic of Arita production during the 17th century.
 
The decoration, painted in underglaze cobalt blue, depicts a mountainous landscape with pine trees and swirling clouds, complemented by stylized border motifs around the neck.
 
Originally developed in Southeast Asia, the kendi was used for ritual ablutions or for pouring liquids without the vessel touching the lips. This distinctive form was widely exported by the Dutch East India Company (VOC), particularly to Europe, where Japanese Arita porcelain enjoyed considerable popularity during the 17th century.
 
Condition: Good overall condition with small chips to the spout. No restoration. UV checked.
