This bronze sculpture depicts a female figure identified as a Deepalakshmi (or Dipa Lakshmi), a ritual personification of devotion and auspicious light.
 
The figure stands in samabhanga (an upright, balanced stance) on a small circular platform set upon a truncated pyramidal base. Both arms extend forward, the hands clasping cylindrical sockets originally designed to receive two detachable oil cups, now missing.
 
At the rear, an arched handle connects the lower back to the base. This robust feature, characteristic of domestic altar and processional lamps from Odisha, allowed the object to be safely carried during devotional arati rituals.
 
The devotee wears a closely fitted dhoti, articulated with finely incised geometric pleats between the legs. She is adorned with ornaments characteristic of the tribal and folk artistic traditions of the region, including bajuband (armlets), engraved geometric necklaces across the chest, and prominent stylized earrings that elongate the earlobes. Her hair is gathered into a low, flat circular bun (juda) at the back of the head.
 
The face displays the expressive and vigorous provincial aesthetic characteristic of Odisha bronzes. It features wide almond-shaped eyes framed by deeply incised eyebrows, a pointed nose, and a broad, serene, stylized smile.
 
Condition: The main structure is intact and complete. The two detachable oil bowls originally fitted into the hand sockets are missing. The surface displays a rich, dark brown ritual-use patina consistent with prolonged devotional handling. Areas of green oxidation (verdigris) and traces of sediment or wax remain in recessed areas, particularly on the chest, the base, and beneath the supporting structure. Overall in good condition.
