Sublime Buddha from the late 18th century, Burma.
This beautifully refined style is the iconography of Amarapura, the style that would later give rise to Mandalay.
Amarapura was twice the capital of Burma, during the Konbaung period (1783-1821 and 1842-1859), before finally being supplanted by Mandalay.
A more masculine face, meticulously detailed and finely crafted. Wavy details all over the drapery on the Buddha's robe. Exceptional workmanship.
Dark caramel patina.
49 cm!A highly decorative and splendid piece.
